One Bilayer Collagen Membrane for Cartilage and Meniscus Repair
Geistlich Chondro-Gide® is a resorbable bilayer membrane made from highly purified porcine collagen types I and III. It provides a protected biological environment that supports cell attachment and tissue regeneration.
Phoenix offers Chondro-Gide® for both AMIC® cartilage repair and AMMR® meniscus preservation.

Bilayer Membrane Design
The membrane has two functionally different surfaces:
AMIC® – Cartilage Repair
AMIC®, or Autologous Matrix-Induced Chondrogenesis, is a single-stage cartilage-repair procedure combining bone-marrow stimulation with Chondro-Gide®.
After the damaged cartilage is removed, microfracture or another marrow-stimulation technique releases regenerative cells into the defect. Chondro-Gide® covers and stabilises the resulting superclot, helping protect it from displacement and shear forces during the early healing phase.

AMIC® Applications

AMMR® – Meniscus Preservation
AMMR®, or Arthroscopic Matrix-Based Meniscus Repair, is designed to biologically augment meniscal repair in tears with limited healing potential.
The meniscus is first stabilised using sutures. Chondro-Gide® is then wrapped around the repaired area, with the porous surface facing the meniscus and the smooth surface facing the joint cavity. Bone-marrow aspirate may be introduced between the membrane and meniscus to create a protected biological chamber around the repair.
AMMR® augments biological healing but does not replace stable mechanical meniscal fixation.

AMMR® Applications
Product Features
Clinical results depend on patient selection, lesion characteristics, stable fixation, surgical technique and postoperative rehabilitation.
